THE CURRENT

By Fareed Omar

Currently, in Kenya the youth continue to chant 'no more' , the leaders of the day, continue to hear and consider this 'normal' .

Well, this time, its about time. Not in time.

Leaders of the day;

The people of age;

In this day and age, our inner voice is feeling forced and waits to see who carries the day.

 Are we to ignore our true self because of the voice of the masses? Just because the majority normally laugh and taunt our normal should we consider ourselves as being abnormal? We definately need to be considerate towards the normalcy of the abnormality being normal. Although taxing, it is food for thought.

A dissenting opinion is a necessary step towards change. As per and at par with all democratic societies, we should be decent in our dissent.

We may not necessarily agree with another's opinion. But we should accomodate and give room for the other to express his contribution or retribution if he so wishes.

We the people; You and I, in person are all people. Human we are. Humane we are.

Motions initiated by intense emotions are not always the best way to bring about change.

Let us move forward as we go back and bring sanity back to society. Cautioned that even as we do so, we should not be quick to judge and deduce the other as insane.Afterall, all the greats were considered to be unconventional during their times.  They all seem to have conceptually grasped the allegory of the cave too well. Alone in thought; with thought, as they commenced their peregrination.

 Our genesis....

Just to honor a few, right from Einstein, Liu Xiaobo, Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela to Rosa Parks who was famous for taking a stand by sitting down. All, not quite from the house of commons but from among the commons, albeit significantly uncommon in thought.

Commonality in initially being opposed for their ideologies, now, distinguished by how distinct they were. Strategic in how they brought about the opposing people to give their vision a chance.

If you really want to change the world then you have to expect opposition.

We, should understand that the thought of the masses may be right for that particular time. A difference in thought may not be wrong but right perhaps for a different time.  In whichever faction we support, we do not necessarily have to force our ideologies on others.

Personalities we all have. We may take things personally when we feel aggrieved. An action should be preceeded by thought. And after an action it should be justified by an afterthought. Wishful thinking perhaps. Nonetheless, as we flex to try and show who has more muscle, we shouldn't let the actions of the other change who we really are. It is not for me to judge.

 "I understand you!" whispered Fredrick Nietzsche, upon seeing a horse being flogged.  I feel more like the horse,  perhaps because I bear no philosophical traits. Even though Nietzsche did eventually go insane, he did have an open mind. I remain apologetic for any persiflage.

Personally, within reason, i find reasonableness in finding a solution.  Fast.

But first....Patience! That said. Quite the conundrum we are in now.

As we fiddle on the roof deciding which of two opinions are more right than the other,  we agree that some musing is required.

"Until then, keep this in mind, whether you think you can or you think you can't, you're right!" quote by Stewie Griffin! IFYKYK.

I guess in life, there are no wrong thoughts. Best we should do is tolerate and understand each other's thoughts whether they are ahead or before our time, we do not have to flow with the current. We are already in the current.  Your current thoughts!?

I have no special talents, I am only passionately curious.
